TV Remote Support
Getting started and frequently asked questions
Last updated: September 17, 2026
Getting started
- Connect your iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network (same LAN) as the TV
- Open the app. It looks for TVs on your network.
The first time, iOS asks for Local Network access — it is needed to find TVs on the same Wi-Fi - Pick your TV and approve the connection on the TV screen (first time only)
After that it connects automatically.
Requirements
- iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later
- Your iPhone and your TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network (same LAN).
A TV on wired Ethernet works as long as it uses the same router - The app controls TVs over Wi-Fi. Infrared (IR) is not supported
Supported TVs
- LG webOS (NANO, OLED, UHD and others)
- Android TV / Google TV (SONY, SHARP, TCL and others)
- Roku TV and Roku streaming devices
- Samsung Tizen (Neo QLED, The Frame and others)
The app finds the TV and detects the protocol automatically. You do not need a different app for each brand.
Frequently asked questions
The app cannot find my TV
- Make sure both devices use the same router. Different SSIDs for 5GHz and 2.4GHz are fine as long as it is the same router
- Allow the "Local Network" permission when prompted. If you declined it, turn it back on in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. Without it the app cannot find TVs on your Wi-Fi
- Guest networks, and networks with client isolation (AP isolation), prevent the app from finding your TV. Use a normal Wi-Fi network
- A TV that is fully powered down (switched off at the mains, or unplugged) cannot be found. Turn the TV on and search again
The app cannot turn my TV on
Powering a TV on uses Wake on LAN and is available for LG webOS TVs. All of the following are needed.
- Connect to the TV from the app at least once, so the app can store its MAC address
- Enable "turn on over network" on the TV. On LG sets: Settings > General > External Devices > Mobile TV On, or "Turn on via Wi-Fi/LAN"
- It cannot work if the TV is unplugged, or if a power-saving setting cuts standby power completely
When those conditions are met, opening the app while the TV is off shows a "Turn the TV on" button.
It asks me to approve the connection (pairing)
Only on the first connection.
- Android TV / Google TV: enter the six-digit code shown on the TV screen
- LG webOS: choose Yes (Allow) in the prompt on the TV screen
Some buttons are dimmed and do nothing
The connected TV does not support that command. Which buttons are available depends on the model and its firmware.
What are operation points?
- You start with 100 points, and each operation uses one
- A long press, or rapid taps within 0.6 seconds, count as a single point
- Tap the ⚡ mark at the top right and watch a rewarded video to add 10 points. You can do this while you still have points, so you can stock up
- "Turn the TV on", which wakes a TV from standby, never uses a point
- There is no way to buy points, and no in-app purchases
Can I remove the ads?
There is currently no paid ad-free version. The app is funded by advertising alone.
Is anything I do sent somewhere?
No. The app talks directly to the TV on your own network. Which buttons you press is never sent to a server. For what is collected in order to show ads, please see the Privacy Policy.
